I studied at the University of Ottawa, where I specialized in trumpet interpretation. I also studied privately with Robert Oades and Karen Donnelly, principal trumpet of the National Arts Centre Orchestra, as well as Manon Lafrance and John Ellis.
Throughout my university career, I performed in concerts given by the University of Ottawa’s orchestra and wind ensemble, as well as with the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra, Capital Brassworks and the National Arts Centre Orchestra. During that time, I started to privately teach students who wanted to enhance their trumpet knowledge and techniques.
My love for music first started at Séraphin-Marion elementary school, where the music teacher, Michel Rochon, encouraged me to try the trumpet. I was successful from the start, playing in both the school’s wind and jazz ensembles. I enjoyed playing so much that I pursued my music education in high school.
During my first year of high school, I played with the Woods Manufacturing Brass Band (now the Maple Leaf Brass Band). For four years, I was also part of the De La Salle orchestra and wind ensemble. I also did a Canadian tour with this orchestra, which convinced me to turn my passion into a career in music.
